Badger Mountain Elementary recently earned a Partnership School Award from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University for its efforts to better connect the school with its community.
The school is the first to receive the award from NNPS, which advocates for strong partnerships between schools and communities to increase student success.
“Everyone at Badger Mountain cares deeply about our students,” says Principal Shana Borms. “Partnering with parents and community members is just one more way that we can help each of them be engaged in school and meet their potential."
The award recognizes the work of Badger Mountain’s Action Team for Partnerships (ATP), a group of staff and community members.
The ATP’s activity focused on providing parents tools for developing fine motor skills in their children before kindergarten will be included in NNPS’s annual publication, Promising Partnership Practices 2018. NNPS also praised a cultural fair and summer reading program the ATP organized.
“Badger Mountain Elementary School’s ATP is demonstrating its capacity to plan and implement creative and useful partnership activities,” says Joyce Epstein, NNPS Director.
